David’s passion for photography started at a young age when he would borrow his Dad’s medium format camera to take pictures of the Suffolk countryside. He became fascinated with lighting and composition which naturally led him to study for a BA in photography with a focus both on the traditional methods of the darkroom and the then emerging world of digital capture.
Now with over 11 years as a commercial photographer under his belt, he now works regularly for clients on both still life and fashion campaigns, including John Lewis, Superdrug and L'Oréal.
In his personal work David is fascinated by the details of complex systems. He is always seeking parallels which give way to the underlying causality that link otherwise seemingly unrelated structures.
His interest in how the small and seemingly irrelevant details of a subject can be imaged and catalogued gives rise to a larger body of work that seeks to find pattern and coherence. In his photographic projects David uses the tools afforded by the commercial work to seek pattern and connection between human subjectivity and the structures we live within and alongside.
Other clients include Tesco, CAT Footwear, Taylor Howes, La Perla, The Perfume Shop, Marionnaud & Palladium Boots.
